Rainbow ....in the grass

I look down from my balcony and I see the rainbow in the grass. The sprinklers were turned on to wet grass and the rainbow appeared.

Dizygotic twins

I found this mural on Doamnei Street. I could not find too much information about it, I just know that it's painted in 2011, on the wall of an old house.

Another day, another walk, another fence.

Dimitrie Racovita Street is a quiet street with many beautiful old houses.
In this building, well protected by fence, is the Romanian Academy's Institute of Geography.

Caragiale's plays electrify you

In 2012 we celebrated 100 years since the death of Ion Luca Caragiale, the most famous Romanian playwright.
To mark this event, Enel (one of the electricity suppliers) painted a power transformer house in the town center, with characters of Caragiale's work.
What is the connection between an electricity supplier and Caragiale ?! They both had a premiere at the same time. In 1885, at the premiere of the play "Of the Carnival" by Caragiale, the National Theater in Bucharest was electric lighting for the first time, becoming the third theater in Europe with electric lighting.

It is the first time I see such an exhibition. And because I liked it so much I will show you some violets.

Casa din Dimitrie Racovita

Bucurestiul este un oras plin de contradictii, din punct de vedere arhitectonic. Gasesti case vechi in stil art nouveau, in stil traditional romanesc, case neutre sau blocuri comuniste. Printre toate acestea, am gasit aceasta casa, care nu se incadreaza nici unui stil arhitectonic. Proprietarul a vrut o casa unica si a reusit. Casa se afla pe strada Dimitrie Racovita.

Barber - La Mitica

This mural is on Sun Street in Old Town, on a narrow wall. This blind wall is only one meter wide. The painting is at the entrance of the bar, and the inscription "Barber - La Mitica" has no connection with reality, but remembers the old times. Two ladies walking on a street in an interwar decor.
The place is very narrow,  and it was difficult to fit the entire mural in one picture.

Prehistoric Animal

I found this mosaic at Selari street, in Bucharest's Old Town. Seeking information about this Prehistoric Animal, I found that was done in 2014 by artist Julian Emil Moldovan, the project Glappy. He is a young artist who was specialized in mosaics and has several outstanding works, spread all over the country.

A day of May

I spent a few days in a small village, Draganesti Vlasca.
You do not find too many things in Drăgănesti, only few houses, many meadows and a lake that stretches along the village. At any time you look at the lake, you get a wonderful view.

The place is full of peace and relaxation.

Hanging garden

Somewhere on the Lipscani street I found this picture on the wall. It is a good choice to cover the wall, I think.

Chrissoveloni Palace

One of the most beautiful building in central Bucharest is Chrissoveloni Palace. It was revived and turned into the largest bookstore in Romania.
The building belonged to a famous family of bankers and was restored by the only heir remained alive.
Chrissoveloni Palace was built in 1860. It has hosted the most powerful Romanian banking family. Here there were sleeping quarters and administrative offices. After the financial crisis of the '30s, the building was transformed into a popular bazaar and later the communists have turned it into a shop called Familia.
After few years, the architectural jewel was won in court by the heir, Jean Chrissoveloni, and he had only one desire - to convey it to the culture.
Thus appeared Carturesti Carusel bookstore.

10,000 books, 5,000 music albums and movies, an art gallery and a bistro are placed on the 6 floors of the Chrissoveloni Palace.

In this beautiful place you get the "book, music, tea and trimmings" - this is the slogan of the bookstore.

The place is now a culture carousel, where even if you're not an erudite, you can spin and forget the noise of the city.

Crazy traffic

Bucharest is a crowded city. At the peak hours the traffic is infernal. What can you do in a traffic jam? You can do some pictures, especially if you have a glass building reflecting the traffic.
